About The Center
With the exponential growth of his practice, Dr. Johnson has taken dramatic steps to accommodate the needs of our community. To that end, he acquired the former Bank of America building on the comer of Mesquite and Riviera, and renovations there have transformed the place into an astonishing architectural gem. Most of the former bank's beautiful California Mission-style exterior remains in place; the changes begin with that first step into the lobby.
"We designed this building with patient comfort and patient flow in mind," says Dr. Johnson. "People appreciate something well-designed, user-friendly, and spacious."
Dark wood
desks and molding delight the visitor's eye in the immense yet comfortable
lobby. Custom sponge painted walls-done by hand by a renowned artist from New
Orleans- and slate tiles further adorn the wide hallways, which flow smoothly
into the private rooms in back. This was once a bank, keep in mind, and what was
formerly the teller line has been reborn into three spacious exam rooms. Yet a
playful reminder that a bank once stood here still remains-the enormous
steel-plated vault door still swings from its reinforced hinges, through which
one must pass in the open-ended transcription office and nurses' station. The
bevy of surprises, though, doesn't stop with the handsome decor.
Each exam room has been outfitted for X-ray and scan review, allowing for patient education as well as treatment. A plasma monitor, designed to interface with radiological units elsewhere by computer, allows him to access pertinent information from his desk as well. "Our office is conceived for one-stop orthopedic care," states Dr. Johnson. "The community has supported us strongly. We couldn't have done it without the patients and professionals from the whole area"
Advanced Orthopedic's greatest acquisition,
however,
has to be its new fluoroscopic radiological unit. This state-of-the-art machine
is found almost exclusively in hospitals, Dr. Johnson is the only orthopedic
physician in private practice in the area to utilize one. "My strength is
sorting out problems or difficult diagnosis" he adds and certainly this
remarkable machine plays to his strength. The imaging is continuous on the monitor, and as the patient moves
and swivels, so does the image. Ideal for arthograms, hip injections, spinal
imaging and injections and especially for evaluating and reducing fractures, Dr.
Johnson's fluoroscope has become indispensable to his practice.
It's this commitment, foresight, and attention to detail that make Dr. Johnson and his enthusiastic staff indispensable to our lakeside community as well.
